Novelo Vago é um trio de música contemporânea/improvisada constituído por Vera Morais, Teresa Costa e Inês Lopes. Seguindo as passadas de John Cage e de outros interessados em instrumentos alternativos, dedicam-se a escrever (e improvisar) música para instrumentos de brincar (como o toy piano), instrumentos que oficialmente não são considerados brinquedos mas que claramente o são (como o flautim), instrumentos cuja utilidade é bastante questionável (como a melódica, ou o ukulele baixo), e sex toys. Uma boa parte do seu repertório centra-se na poesia de Adília Lopes, Paul van Ostaijen, Alexandre O'Neill e Gertrude Stein.

A música deste toy ensemble tem sido amplamente elogiada e foi prontamente apelidada de "punk erudito" devido à sua estética DIY e performances impactantes. Estrearam-se em Amesterdão em janeiro de 2023 com um concerto na lendária loja de preservativos Condomerie. Em maio do mesmo ano lançaram o seu álbum/bootleg de estreia "Live in Porto - a protest in the form of an album". Desde então têm atuado essencialmente em espaços dedicados à música improvisada ou experimental, como o De Ruimte (Amsterdam, NL), Dokzaal (Amsterdam, NL), Hot Club (Gent, BE), Greesberger (Colónia, DE).

Novelo Vago is a contemporary/improvised music trio formed by Vera Morais, Teresa Costa, and Inês Lopes. Following in the footsteps of John Cage and others drawn to alternative instruments, they devote themselves to composing (and improvising) music for toy instruments (such as the toy piano), instruments that are not officially considered toys but clearly are (like the piccolo), instruments of rather questionable usefulness (such as the melodica or bass ukulele), and sex toys. A significant portion of their repertoire centres on the poetry of Adília Lopes, Paul van Ostaijen, Alexandre O’Neill, and Gertrude Stein.

The music of this toy ensemble has been widely praised and was swiftly dubbed “intellectual punk” due to its DIY aesthetic and striking performances. They made their debut in Amsterdam in January 2023 with a concert at the legendary condom shop Condomerie. In May of the same year, they released their debut album/bootleg “Live in Porto – a protest in the form of an album”. Since then, they have mainly performed in venues dedicated to improvised or experimental music, such as De Ruimte (Amsterdam, NL), Dokzaal (Amsterdam, NL), Hot Club (Ghent, BE), and Greesberger (Cologne, DE).
