Valença, cidade histórica junto à fronteira com a Galiza, pertence ao distrito de Viana do Castelo. No seu centro destaca-se a imponente Fortaleza de Valença, uma das maiores e mais bem preservadas estruturas militares da Europa, que guarda ruas repletas de comércio tradicional.
O território distingue-se também pelas paisagens ribeirinhas do rio Minho, ideais para passeios ao ar livre, e a Ponte Centenária que une Valença e Tui, cidade galega com a qual, em 2012, se celebrou um acordo de cooperação que deu origem à Eurocidade Tui - Valença.
Valença, a historic city on the border with Galicia, belongs to the district of Viana do Castelo. At its center stands the imposing Fortress of Valença, one of the largest and best-preserved military structures in Europe, which shelters streets filled with traditional commerce.
The territory is also distinguished by the riverside landscapes of the Minho River, ideal for outdoor walks, and by the Centennial Bridge that links Valença to Tui, a Galician city with which, in 2012, a cooperation agreement was signed, giving rise to the Tui–Valença Eurocity.
