Reconhecido como um dos mais proeminentes músicos e pianistas da cena portuguesa de improvisação livre, experimental e Free Jazz, Rodrigo Pinheiro incorpora uma abordagem versátil à música, navegando facilmente por diferentes géneros e línguas. A sua carreira, que se estende por mais de duas décadas, é marcada por contributos para o campo da improvisação livre, incluindo o seu papel no trio RED. As suas gravações foram aclamadas como alguns dos melhores álbuns de jazz do ano por publicações como The Wire, Público, New York City Jazz Record e Jazz.pt.
Aos cinco anos de idade, começou a estudar no conservatório local da Covilhã, Portugal, concentrando-se mais tarde na improvisação sob a orientação de mentores como Carlos Zíngaro, Peter Kowald, Gunther Muller, Nuno Rebelo e Patrick Brennan. Para além da performance, o seu trabalho abrange composições para cinema e teatro. Tem colaborado com muitos músicos, incluindo artistas reconhecidos internacionalmente como John Butcher, Axel Dörner, Mattias Ståhl, Nate Wooley, Joe McPhee, Thomas Lehn, Keir Neuringer, Lotte Anker e Peter Evans. As suas atuações levaram-no por Portugal, EUA, Holanda, Alemanha, Áustria, Rússia, Lituânia, Polónia, Sérvia, Roménia e Noruega.

At the age of five, he began studying at the local conservatory in Covilhã, Portugal, later focusing on improvisation under the guidance of mentors such as Carlos Zíngaro, Peter Kowald, Gunther Muller, Nuno Rebelo, and Patrick Brennan. Beyond performance, his work spans composing for film and theater.
